UAE Team L’IMAD’s Lara Gillespie Takes Second on Final Stage of Tour of Britain Women

Irish champion Lara Gillespie sprints to second on the final stage in Royal Leamington Spa as UAE Team L’IMAD completes a consistent five-day campaign.

Irish champion Lara Gillespie closed the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women with a second-place finish on the fifth and final stage, completing a strong week for UAE Team L’IMAD.

The final stage covered 123.8 kilometres, starting and finishing in Royal Leamington Spa.

Gillespie sprints to second

Dutch rider Lorena Wiebes (Team SD Worx – Protime) claimed the stage victory, securing her fourth win in five stages.

However, Gillespie produced a powerful finish in the closing metres. The Irish champion fought her way back into contention before overtaking Chiara Consonni (CANYON//SRAM) with a late surge to take second place.

The result rewarded a consistent week of racing from Gillespie and UAE Team L’IMAD.

UAE Team L’IMAD delivers consistent results

UAE Team L’IMAD remained competitive throughout all five stages of the Tour of Britain Women.

Lara Gillespie, Karlijn Swinkels and Eleonora Gasparrini all recorded strong results during the race, regularly placing the team among the leading riders.

Meanwhile, Elynor Bäckstedt, Erica Magnaldi and Febe Jooris played important supporting roles throughout the week. Their work helped put their teammates in strong positions across the five stages.

Swinkels finishes sixth overall

Karlijn Swinkels also ended the Tour with a strong result, securing sixth place in the final General Classification.

The Dutch rider showed consistency throughout the race. She finished seventh on the opening stage, eighth on Stage 3 and sixth on Stage 4.

Her sixth-place finish overall capped a solid five days for UAE Team L’IMAD, while Gillespie’s final-stage podium gave the team another strong result to close the Tour.
