Smaller Oura Ring 5 Puts New Women’s Health Features Front and Centre

The 40% smaller smart ring arrives with new menopause and hormonal birth control insights, GLP-1 tracking and expanded activity, cardiovascular and preventative health features.

For endurance athletes, health hackers and anyone who has quietly swapped some of their wrist tech for smarter jewellery, ŌURA Ring 5 has plenty to dig into,  particularly for women. Already on the market in the UAE, the smaller ring brings new menopause and hormonal birth control insights alongside GLP-1, cardiovascular, sleep and activity tracking.

The next-generation ring is 40% smaller than Oura Ring 4, with a thinner, lighter design, completely re-engineered sensing architecture and week-long battery life. Made from titanium and available in sizes 6 to 13, it also introduces a new Deep Rose finish alongside Silver, Black, Gold, Stealth and Brushed Silver.

But some of the most notable developments are happening inside the Oura app, particularly around menopause and hormonal contraception.

New menopause insights

Oura’s new Menopause Insights experience is built around its Menopause Impact Scale, a proprietary, research-driven clinical questionnaire developed with the company’s clinical and science teams.

It looks at areas including sleep, mood, cognition and daily functioning to help users understand how strongly perimenopause is affecting their everyday lives.

Following the assessment, members receive a personalised dashboard showing their overall impact level and contributing symptoms. They can track those patterns over time alongside lifestyle changes, stress, interventions and biometric data, and save and share results with clinicians to support conversations around treatment and next steps.

Hormonal birth control comes to Cycle Insights

Oura is also expanding Cycle Insights for members using hormonal contraception, including pills, patches, IUDs and implants.

The feature offers insight into how an individual’s biometrics shift across hormone and hormone-free days, helping users connect changes in how they feel with their physiological data over time. Oura describes it as a first-of-its-kind view into these biometric shifts.

The developments sit alongside Oura Advisor and the company’s proprietary AI model for women’s health, which underpin its move towards more personalised health insights.

Live activity tracking

For sport and training, Oura Ring 5 introduces live activity tracking, allowing members to start a workout and follow metrics including pace and distance in real time from their phone.

The feature supports activities including running, cycling and strength training, while compatible third-party heart-rate monitors and devices can be connected to display heart rate alongside workout data.

Oura has also updated Automatic Activity Detection, with improvements specifically targeting low-motion activities such as Pilates.

Health Radar and blood pressure signals

The new Health Radar expands Oura’s proactive health offering by continuously monitoring biometric signals for patterns that may warrant attention.

Its first two areas are blood pressure signals and nighttime breathing. Blood Pressure Signals is designed to identify changes that may indicate cardiovascular strain, while Nighttime Blood Pressure tracks patterns during sleep. Members can also log readings from a blood-pressure cuff directly in the Oura app.

Nighttime Breathing provides a 30-day rolling view of sleep-related breathing patterns and disturbances, helping users understand longer-term changes rather than individual nights in isolation.

New GLP-1 and metabolic health tools

Oura is also expanding into GLP-1 medication self-management with GLP-1 Insights.

The feature brings dosing, user-reported side effects and weight tracking together with Oura metrics including Sleep, Activity, Readiness and stress, creating a longitudinal view of a member’s experience while using GLP-1 medication.

A new Lab Uploads feature also allows members to import laboratory results into the Oura app, placing blood biomarkers alongside their existing biometric data.

A new charging case, Locate and greater data control

Oura is introducing a portable Charging Case for Ring 5, which stores up to one month of additional battery and supports wireless charging.

The company is also launching Locate, which helps members find a misplaced Oura Ring or Charging Case and manage multiple Oura devices from one place.

A new time-based Data Deletion feature gives members greater control over their health information by allowing them to erase data from a specific period while retaining the rest of their account and long-term history.

Oura Ring 5 UAE price and availability

Oura Ring 5 is priced at AED 1,599 in Silver and Black and AED 1,999 for Gold, Stealth, Brushed Silver and Deep Rose. Oura Membership costs AED 29.99 per month or AED 269 per year.

The new Charging Case, priced at AED 389, is due to become available in the UAE in the coming months. Ring 5 also supports switching between multiple Oura Ring 4 and Ring 5 devices on a single account at no additional cost.

Health Radar, including Blood Pressure Signals and Nighttime Breathing, and GLP-1 Insights are among the features rolling out to UAE members using the Oura app in English. Live Activity Tracking, Locate and Data Deletion are available globally, while Lab Uploads is rolling out globally in English.

For this version, I’d make Oura Ring 5 women’s health the SEO angle because it matches both the headline and the article’s strongest editorial focus.
