Athletes competing in the 2026 Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final will race across a 100km route built around Lusail’s waterfront, with new course details now confirmed ahead of the season finale from 10-12 December.
The route begins with a 2km swim in the Arabian Gulf, followed by an 80km cycle through Lusail’s streets. Athletes will then complete an 18km run through Lusail Plaza and Boulevard to reach the finish.
Visit Qatar announced the course details in partnership with the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), World Triathlon and the Qatar Triathlon Federation. The championship returns to Lusail for a second consecutive year, bringing professional and amateur triathletes to the city for three days of racing.

Relay races join the 2026 programme
Alongside the course announcement, organisers have expanded the race programme for this year’s championship.
For the first time, athletes will be able to compete as part of a team. Relay entries will be available across both the 100km and Sprint distances, creating another way for athletes to take part in the event.
The programme will also feature individual open and age-group championships, as well as 1km and 5km community runs.
Further details about relay entries will be announced ahead of the event.
More than 5,000 athletes competed in debut year
The expanded programme follows a strong first year for the championship in Qatar.
The inaugural T100 Age Group World Championships in Doha attracted more than 5,000 amateur athletes from 82 countries.
That international turnout highlighted Qatar’s growing role as a host of large-scale multisport competitions.
Now, the championship will return for a second year with an expanded programme and another international field.
World championship titles to be decided in Lusail
The December event will also conclude the 2026 T100 Triathlon World Tour.
This year’s series covers nine international destinations between March and December. Throughout the season, the world’s leading professional triathletes have competed for a place in the final championship battle.
They will now converge on Lusail, where the 2026 world championship titles will be decided.
As a result, Qatar will host both the final race weekend and the culmination of the season-long title contest.
Qatar targets athletes and sports fans from across GCC
The championship is also being positioned as a winter sports travel opportunity for visitors from across the GCC.
December is one of Qatar’s more suitable periods for outdoor activities. Therefore, visitors can combine the three-day championship with the country’s wider programme of sporting, entertainment and cultural events.
Qatar’s accessibility from neighbouring GCC countries also makes the event suitable for a short regional trip.
The championship forms part of Qatar’s wider efforts to strengthen its position as a sports tourism destination and international competition hub.
Sprint registration remains open
With less than 100 days remaining, registration for the Sprint Distance triathlon is still open.
