The initiative explored innovation, agentic AI and digital transformation to improve service efficiency and customer experience across the UAE sports sector.

The Ministry of Sports organised its first Innovation Lab, bringing together employees to explore ways to develop the Ministry’s services and create a comprehensive roadmap for the future of sports services in the UAE.

The initiative focused on improving service quality and customer experience in line with the UAE Code for Government Services and the Zero Bureaucracy Programme.

Innovation Lab explores future of sports services

The Innovation Lab brought together employees responsible for developing the Ministry’s services to review current operations and identify opportunities for improvement.

During the sessions, participants examined the UAE Code for Government Services and conducted a comprehensive review of the Ministry’s core, support and complementary services. They also discussed the strategic priorities guiding the Ministry’s wider service transformation.

In addition, the discussions explored recent developments in regulatory frameworks and how agentic AI applications could be integrated into government services.

The sessions focused on using innovation, advanced technology and digital transformation to simplify processes while improving the efficiency and quality of services provided to customers.

Building more proactive government services

Humaid Al-Muhairi, Director of the Strategy and Future Department at the Ministry of Sports, said:

“The lab represents an important step in the Ministry’s service development journey, by transitioning toward the design of more flexible, integrated, and proactive services in line with the principles of the UAE Government Services Code. We aim to fundamentally transform services and leverage data and the latest technologies to deliver advanced services that meet customer needs and support the objectives of the Zero Bureaucracy Programme”.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Amer, Head of the Government Services Office at the Ministry of Sports, emphasised that the lab supports the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to transform government services in line with best practices.

He noted that the initiative focuses on creating proactive, integrated and customer-centric services. It also explores how innovation, advanced technologies and agentic AI can improve customer experiences by simplifying procedures and increasing the efficiency and quality of government services.

Identifying priorities for service development

As part of the Innovation Lab, participants identified priority areas for service improvement based on the core principles of the UAE Code for Government Services.

They also discussed key performance indicators and reviewed transformational and strategic initiatives supporting service development. Furthermore, the sessions examined the policies required to help the Ministry achieve its objectives.

Through these discussions, the Ministry aims to establish a clearer roadmap for developing sports services that are more flexible, efficient and responsive to customer needs.

Supporting the Zero Bureaucracy Programme

The initiative reflects the Ministry of Sports’ commitment to embedding innovation within government service development through future-focused and digitally enabled approaches.

In particular, the Innovation Lab supports the goals of the Zero Bureaucracy Programme by exploring ways to simplify processes and enhance customer experiences.

The initiative also contributes to the objectives of the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision, which seeks to position the UAE as a leading global nation through agile and proactive government services.

By developing services that respond to the evolving needs of the sports sector, the Ministry aims to support its continued growth and long-term development.
