Cycle Against Cancer Raises AED 2.4 Million Following Barcelona-to-Paris Endurance Ride

The 3,333km Barcelona-to-Paris ride exceeded its original fundraising target by more than 25%, raising AED 2.4 million for Al Jalila Foundation's cancer care programmes.

Cycle Against Cancer has completed its 3,333-kilometre endurance ride from Barcelona to Paris, raising AED 2.4 million in support of Al Jalila Foundation and exceeding its original fundraising target of AED 1.8 million.

The 25-day expedition brought together cancer survivors, business leaders, and members of the UAE cycling community, many of whom rode in memory or honour of loved ones affected by cancer. Together, the team of 15 riders cycled across Spain and France, covering more than 54,000 metres of elevation while raising funds for cancer care and highlighting the power of resilience, hope, and community.

Fundraising campaign continues

After surpassing its original fundraising goal by more than 25%, Cycle Against Cancer has increased its fundraising target to provide even greater support for Al Jalila Foundation’s cancer care programmes.

Although the physical challenge has come to an end, the campaign continues to encourage individuals and organisations to donate in support of people affected by cancer.

Gala to celebrate community support

To mark the completion of the expedition, Cycle Against Cancer will host a gala event in September, bringing together riders, partners, and supporters to celebrate the collective effort behind the initiative and recognise the community that helped make the campaign a success.

Guido De Wilde, Founder of Cycle Against Cancer and stage 4 colon cancer survivor, said:

“When we started planning this challenge, we knew the ride would test us physically, but what has stayed with me most is the generosity and belief of everyone who chose to support us. Watching people rally behind this cause has been a powerful reminder that no one has to face cancer alone. While reaching Paris was a proud moment for the team, the greatest achievement is knowing that every donation will help bring hope and support to people who need it most. We have raised our fundraising target because this movement is bigger than one ride, and we want to keep that momentum going for as long as possible for Al Jalila Foundation’s critical cancer care programmes.”

Turning endurance into impact

Inspired by Guido De Wilde’s own experience overcoming stage 4 colon cancer, Cycle Against Cancer was established to transform endurance challenges into meaningful action while reminding people affected by cancer that hope, resilience, and support remain within reach.

The successful completion of the Barcelona-to-Paris ride reinforces that mission while generating lasting support for cancer patients across the UAE.

Donations remain open as Cycle Against Cancer continues its fundraising efforts in support of Al Jalila Foundation. To learn more, visit Cycle Against Cancer’s official website.
