Brighton College Dubai Hosts BSME U15 Blue Games for the First Time, Celebrates Major Wins Across Girls’ Sport

A standout weekend for Girls’ Netball and Athletics as leading British international schools gather in Dubai for one of the region’s top school-sport tournaments.

Brighton College Dubai stepped confidently into the regional school-sport spotlight this past week as it hosted the BSME U15 Blue Games for the first time, transforming its Al Barsha South campus into a vibrant arena of competition, camaraderie and rising talent.

The Games bring together schools within the British Schools in the Middle East network. BSME schools are members of a high-quality community of British international schools across the region, connected through shared standards, competitive fixtures and collaborative opportunities. The U15 Blue Games unite similar-sized schools for balanced competition across boys’ and girls’ events and remain a key fixture in the academic sporting calendar.

From November 21 to 23, the College welcomed hundreds of Year 9 and 10 athletes from ten British-curriculum schools across the UAE, Kuwait, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Brighton College Dubai made a strong impression throughout the weekend, particularly across the girls’ competitions.

The College secured first place in Girls’ Athletics and Girls’ Netball. Year 10 pupils Rosie and Coco delivered standout individual performances, with Rosie named Girls’ Athletics Player of the Tournament and Coco earning the Netball Player of the Tournament award. The Girls’ Football team added further momentum with a determined second-place finish.

Across the boys’ events, Brighton College Dubai recorded competitive and resilient performances that contributed to an impressive third-place overall standing, finishing just one point behind Brighton College Abu Dhabi.

Head Master Simon Crane said: “Hosting the BSME U15 Games for the first time has been a significant moment for our College. Our pupils demonstrated determination, skill and exemplary sportsmanship across all events, and we are particularly proud of the girls’ outstanding victories in Netball and Athletics. The dedication of our coaches and the support of our parent community also played an important role in shaping our pupils’ performances throughout the tournament.”

As debut hosts, Brighton College Dubai delivered a smooth and spirited event that highlighted the calibre of its sporting programme and its growing influence within the regional school-sport ecosystem.

Participating schools included South View School, Hartland International School, Kent College Dubai, British International School Jeddah, British International School Cairo (BISC), Doha British School Ain Khaled, The British School of Kuwait, Reach British School, Brighton College Abu Dhabi and Brighton College Dubai.
