World Triathlon Women’s Cup Returns to Dubai with Races for All Abilities

The women-only event will take place at Al Mamzar Beach Park on December 6, bringing together first-time triathletes, relay teams and elite international athletes, with early bird registration starting at AED 240.

Registration is now open for the World Triathlon Women’s Cup Dubai, which returns to Al Mamzar Beach Park on December 6, offering women of different experience levels the opportunity to compete in triathlon.

The event will bring together first-time participants, recreational athletes and international elite competitors, with individual and relay options available.

Organised by Dubai Sports Council in partnership with World Triathlon and in collaboration with the UAE Triathlon Federation, the competition aims to encourage greater participation in women’s sport.

According to organisers, this will be the second World Triathlon Women’s Cup held globally, with the event dedicated exclusively to women and designed to bring amateur and elite athletes together at the same venue on the same day.

World Triathlon Women’s Cup aims to expand participation

The World Triathlon Women’s Cup forms part of Dubai’s efforts to create more opportunities for women and girls to participate in competitive and recreational sport.

By offering different race distances, organisers hope to make triathlon more accessible while providing a platform for experienced athletes to compete internationally.

His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, said:

“The World Triathlon Women’s Cup is about far more than one day of racing.

We want it to be a lasting platform for women’s sport, inspiring more women and girls to take part, giving women athletes the visibility they deserve as role models, and building the confidence and ambition that carry into every part of life, including leadership.

Whether you are an experienced triathlete or have never tried the sport before, there is a race here for you, and we look forward to seeing women from across the UAE and the region on the start line in December.”

Three race categories for different experience levels

The December event will feature three race categories, allowing women to choose a challenge suited to their abilities and experience.

The Super Sprint is designed as an entry point for women attempting their first triathlon. Participants will complete a 400-metre swim, followed by a 10-kilometre cycle and a 2.5-kilometre run.

Meanwhile, the Sprint offers a longer challenge, consisting of a 750-metre swim, 20-kilometre cycle and five-kilometre run.

Both amateur distances are open to women aged 18 and over, who can compete individually or as part of a relay team of up to three participants.

The relay format allows teammates to divide the swimming, cycling and running sections, making the event accessible to women who may not yet feel confident completing all three disciplines.

Elite race offers Olympic Ranking points

The third category will feature international elite triathletes competing in a race managed by World Triathlon.

The Elite race will take place over the Sprint distance, with the winner receiving 500 Olympic Ranking points.

The international start list has not yet been announced, with organisers expected to confirm the participating athletes closer to the event.

All races will take place in and around Al Mamzar Beach Park and the surrounding bay area. Full course details will be released ahead of race day.

Debbie Alexander, Vice President of World Triathlon, said:

“We are delighted to return to Dubai for the second World Triathlon Women’s Cup.

Such events, where women racing their first ever triathlon can watch and compete at the same venue as the Elites, are what makes our sport and this event so special.

Once again, we are able to show how international sport and the power of swim-bike-run can inspire women and young girls at every level.

Our thanks go to Dubai Sports Council for its commitment to women’s triathlon, and I look forward to seeing the athletes racing along Al Mamzar Beach Park on 6 December.”

Dedicated Emirati category to recognise local athletes

The World Triathlon Women’s Cup will also feature a dedicated category recognising the performances of Emirati participants.

Within the wider competition, the top three Emirati finishers will receive separate recognition in both the individual and team categories.

First, second and third place will be awarded in each category, providing an additional competitive opportunity for Emirati women.

The initiative is intended to encourage local participation and recognise Emirati athletes competing alongside the wider international field.

Dubai Fitness Challenge provides preparation opportunity

The event will take place one week after the conclusion of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which runs from October 31 to November 29.

The month-long initiative encourages residents and visitors to complete 30 minutes of physical activity each day for 30 days.

As a result, women planning to enter the World Triathlon Women’s Cup can use the challenge as an opportunity to establish a training routine ahead of the December event.

For first-time triathletes, the period also provides an opportunity to prepare for the swimming, cycling and running disciplines before race day.

World Triathlon Women’s Cup registration and entry fees

Early bird registration is available until Friday, November 13, 2026, with individual entries priced at AED 240 and relay team entries at AED 480.

From Saturday, November 14, the fees will increase to AED 300 for individuals and AED 600 for relay teams.

Women interested in participating can register through the official World Triathlon Women’s Cup Dubai website.

Further details about the race courses and elite athlete field will be announced closer to the event.

Event village to host wellness talks and family activities

Alongside the races, the World Triathlon Women’s Cup will feature an event village open on Saturday, December 5, and Sunday, December 6.

The village will welcome athletes, spectators, families and friends, with music, wellness activities and food and drink available throughout the weekend.

On race day, spectators will also be able to watch the competition from the grandstands and support participants across the different categories.

WTWC Talks to cover nutrition and wellbeing

The event village will host WTWC Talks, a series of panel discussions covering topics relevant to women’s health and everyday life.

Sessions will explore nutrition, physical activity, mental wellbeing and balancing professional and personal responsibilities.

These discussions will form part of the wider event programme, extending the focus beyond competition to women’s participation in sport and wellbeing.

With opportunities for beginners, relay teams and elite athletes, the World Triathlon Women’s Cup Dubai will bring women together for a weekend of racing and community activities at Al Mamzar Beach Park.
